KOHAT: Flooding Claims 11 Lives in Darra Adamkhel

In a tragic incident reported by ARY News on Tuesday, 11 family members drowned when rainwater inundated the basement of their house in the Darra Adamkhel area of Kohat district.

According to Rescue 1122, the victims, who were asleep in the basement, included six children, three women, and two men from the same family. Rescue officials transported the bodies to a nearby hospital for legal procedures.

A five-year-old girl was rescued from the flooded basement, as reported by a Rescue 1122 spokesman.

The heavy rains have ended a prolonged drought in the Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) noted that water levels in all rivers and streams in Punjab remain normal despite ongoing monsoon rains. The water levels in Mangla Dam and Tarbela Dam are currently at 58% and 69%, respectively, while Indian dams on the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers have reached up to 39% capacity.

The monsoon rains are expected to persist until July 31, with the PDMA forecasting more rainfall across most districts of Punjab in the next 24 hours.
