PMD Warns of Urban Flooding as Intense Monsoon Rains to Begin Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted an increase in monsoon activity across various regions of the country beginning today.

Monsoon currents arriving from the Arabian Sea are expected to initially impact Sindh and eastern Balochistan, before spreading to the upper and central regions between July 11th and 15th.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, heavy rains and thunderstorms are forecasted from July 11th to 16th. Islamabad and Punjab are also preparing for significant rainfall, with potential heavy falls around Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Murree during this period.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will experience similar weather conditions to the northern areas, with rain and thunderstorms expected across several districts from July 11th to 15th. In contrast, Balochistan will mostly remain hot and humid, with rain expected only in its eastern parts around mid-July.

The PMD has also warned of urban flooding in northeastern Punjab and landslides in hilly regions like Murree, Galliyat, and AJK due to heavy rainfall.

Authorities are on high alert, with advisories issued for farmers, travelers, and tourists to take necessary precautions during this period.
